| A bird is more than feathers. You can identify a bird not just by color or size, but by shape, habit, even gesture (whether it walks or hops, soars or flaps, or cocks its tail while perching). To a birder, the curve of a beak or the flutter of a wing can be as instantly familiar as an old friend glimpsed across a crowded room. |
